BLACK/WHITE

{one. two. three. four. five. six. seven. eight. nine. ten. eleven. twelve. thirteen. fourteen. fifteen. sixteen. seventeen. eighteen. nineteen. twenty.}

➳ ➳ ➳

what is it about black & white photographs that makes them so innately elegant, sensual, provocative? there’s an ocean of subtext in a B&W snapshot, so much depth + mystery. i just can’t get enough these days. you can’t tell any lies with a black & white photograph. secrets maybe, but not lies. they’re too…real.

what are you inspired by today?

    i agree, something unnamable takes place when moments are frozen in black and white. i don’t understand it really, but it’s beautiful nonetheless.

    Each one more mysteriously beautiful than the next.

    Today I’m inspired by you.

    They definitely do have a sensuality and provocativeness to them that color photos don’t always. I think I may spend a whole day walking around sometime soon, just shooting things in black and white. My spring break is finally here so I have a bit of time to actually do that.

    black & white simplifies the image and transports you to another time. i always want to work with b&w, but just can’t get myself to lose all color, but i do like it very much. these are great … i love the people running in the museum. enjoy your weekend!

    It’s true, there is a certain magic about black and white photography. Still, it always hurts me to take away the colours in a picture.

    It’s funny, as I was looking through the black and whites I was trying to figure out how to word the exact sentiment that you described in your last paragraph. So inspirational.

    Loved so many of these photos but really wouldn’t mind reenacting the scenario of the first shot–reading and tea in bed. Lovely.

    What a great collection of mixed images!! I am especially drawn to the floral pics as I walked through a botanical garden earlier today with the sun kissing my cheeks… mind you it was in a greenhouse, but the colors and heat still warmed my heart… lol.

    I love a good black and white shot (even though I’m usually all about the colour) but there is definitely something mysterious about them and I kind of like letting my imagination go wild and wonder what the actual colours were! Maybe that’s just me!

    I love these photos and the mood you create by putting them together. And, goodness, do I love Bob Dylan!

    They’re calm and relaxing to my eyes because I have been surrounded by a riot of colours lately – not that I’m complaining after this very long winter. Have a lovely week xo
